We routinely provide estimates for our operating and investigative procedures. However, the full extent of a problem may only become apparent during surgery or investigation and this can obviously lead to extra costs. We aim to keep you informed at all times, so please ensure we have your mobile and telephone numbers.

We firmly believe in pet insurance and although we cannot personally recommend specific policies, we keep leaflets of those companies we feel have the best reputation and highest qualities.

Pet insurance gives you peace of mind, especially for sudden or unexpected medical problems.

The best policies give lifetime cover for long-term conditions with no exclusions at policy renewal time.

Please be aware when taking out any policy, pre-existing conditions are NOT covered.

Neutering, routine vaccinations and worming are deemed normal healthcare and are not covered.

Many policies do not cover dental care unless it is an extreme case [fractured tooth or abscess].

Because of the rapidity of our in-house laboratory, results may be relayed to you by our vets during the day [particularly if urgent decisions are required regarding your pet] ? otherwise please call between 4.00 and 4.30pm for a more detailed discussion.

We also use external laboratories for more complex tests and cultures and this can take several days before results are available.

Please ensure that dogs are kept on a lead while in the surgery and that cats and small pets are secure in baskets. We can loan cages and leads on request if required.

If you suspect your pet is highly infectious e.g. dogs with kennel cough, or a cat sneezing or with a discharge, please keep your pet isolated from the other patients. If it is easier, you can return to your car and we will tell you when to come to the Examination Room.

Thank you for your consideration.

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has set up a Scheme to cover veterinary standards and inspections.

The standards cover:

  • Surgical requirements
  • Hygiene
  • Emergency Cover
  • Health & Safety concerns
  • Provision of accurate costing for treatment

Inspections are made every four years. Both our practices have achieved Tier II registration. So far, only half of UK practices have this qualification.
